Noosa Council will begin sand replenishment work along sections of the Noosa River foreshore (QLD).

Coastal and Foreshores Technical Officer, David Shing, said a 30m exclusion zone applied to all vessels around the dredging equipment operating in the waterway.

A dredge will pump sand from the river to the foreshore.

“This maintenance work will repair sections of the Noosaville foreshore that have eroded over time from currents, tides and boat wash,” Mr Shing said.

“There are no negative environmental impacts from the dredging work and all approvals for the work are in place.”

The project will replenish sand at five main areas along the foreshore.

They are Munna Point, the area near T Boat Hire, the foreshore near Pirate Playground, the area near the Yacht Club and the shoreline between the Thomas Street boat ramp and the slipway.

Council contractors aim to complete the work within two months.
