Construction is underway at Kingsthorpe, Gowrie Junction and Westbrook (QLD) to improve sewerage systems and maintenance throughout the region. The Toowoomba Council is overseeing the works.
Kingsthorpe and Gowrie Junction
Construction work is well underway in Kingsthorpe and Gowrie Junction on the sewer reticulation mains.
These mains will connect to the existing pump stations in Kingsthorpe and Gowrie Junction, constructed as part of the Toowoomba Wastewater Infrastructure Project. These pump stations connect to Council’s Wetalla Water Reclamation Facility. Construction of the sewer mains in both Kingsthorpe and Gowrie Junction is expected to be completed by late 2015.
This is the first stage of the project to connect dwellings within the scheme to reticulated sewer. Stage 2 is the connection, by licensed plumbers, of house drainage to the newly laid sewer mains.
Westbrook
Design of the sewer mains to serve the dwellings to be connected to the Westbrook Sewerage Scheme is being undertaken, with construction anticipated to start in late 2015/early 2016. Connection of house drainage to the new sewer mains will be undertaken by licensed plumbers following completion of the sewer main construction.
Kingsthorpe House Drainage Connections
Work to connect households to reticulated sewer has commenced in Kingsthorpe, with work beginning in the area generally to the north of Gowrie Street and west of East Street. The work is being carried out by licensed plumbers engaged by Toowoomba Regional Council, with work in this section estimated to be complete by August 2015.
Houses in other areas of Kingsthorpe will be scheduled for connection as more of sewer mains are constructed and accepted for use by Council.
