SimScale, a German startup, is developing a web-based engineering simulation platform that could streamline the design process of pumps, valves and other equipment.
The SimScale solution is a browser-based computer aided engineering platform that enables mechanical engineers and designers to run virtual 3D simulations of their designs and investigate structural, fluid, thermal and acoustic phenomena.
For instance, an engineer may run a 3D fluid flow simulation of a pump by simply uploading a CAD model into a web-browser and running a simulation in the cloud.
As soon as the results are fully computed, the engineer can visualise attributes like the pressure and velocity field of his pump in 3D, allowing the design to be optimised earlier and easier in the design process.
More information about the platform can be found on the Simscale website.
