AusProof’s Aluminium Restrained Range is a lightweight, cost-effective alternative to stainless steel, designed specifically for non-Ex operational sites.

Ideal for the pumping industry, tunnelling, open-cut, and metalliferous mines, AusProof’s Aluminium Restrained Range was released in 2022 as a lightweight and cost-effective alternative for industries that do not require stainless steel.

AusProof is always looking for ways to assist the industries they supply to, whether in boosting safety, reducing maintenance times, or finding ways to decrease costs. While stainless steel can be used in Non-Ex industries, AusProof’s Research and Development team set to work, building on the idea that while these sites could use stainless steel, they didn’t have to, and there had to be a way to reduce both the weight and cost of low voltage plugs and receptacles.

By using aluminium as the casting material, AusProof’s Research and Development team reduced production costs, enabling them to provide industries around Australia with a cost-effective alternative to stainless steel products. The use of aluminium also resulted in a lighter range across all products while retaining the key features of their stainless steel counterparts.

Within this range of products are the AES, AS and AL plugs and receptacles, ranging from 660V to 3300V, with features including single piece contacts, easy termination, full phase to phase segregation with earth, and full solid earth connectivity. AusProof’s AES plugs can be fitted to pump cables of all types from 2.2mm to 25mm, with AS plugs able to be fitted to pump cables of all types up to 95 sq mm, and AL plugs to pump cables of all types up to 185 sq mm.

The easy-to-remove outer body of these products enables more efficient maintenance, ensuring continued reliability and reduced downtime. Receptacles can be purchased in Jack-In Release, Quick Release, or Ratchet Release options, depending on their range. Additionally, these products can be purchased with a durable silicone cover for the plugs, an O-ring sealed bung for the receptacles, and Receptacles Gland Bracket (RGB) assemblies.

Painted stark white to make the Aluminium Restrained Range easily distinguishable from their stainless steel counterparts, coloured bands show the rating of each product. ‘Non-Ex’ labels and laser marks are also added for further product range clarity.

To assist Non-Ex sites in transitioning from stainless steel to aluminium, all AusProof Aluminium Restrained Range plugs and receptacles are compatible with the AusProof stainless steel product of the same rating.

If you would like to know more about AusProof, its products, or accessories, don’t hesitate to contact your local AusProof representative and ask how AusProof’s products can help your site meet its operational needs.
