Adelaide Hills wastewater infrastructure upgrade

SA Water has committed $3 million to upgrade the capacity of the wastewater network in Lobethal, in the Adelaide Hills, to ensure it can continue to meet increased demand from predicted residential growth.

The project will involve the upgrade of a wastewater pump station plant on Jeffrey Street and the installation of two underground pump stations near Woodside Road in Lobethal and Quarry Road in Charleston.

Early works began in late September 2016 and communication will continue with the local community until the project is completed in mid-2017.

The project is in response to community feedback about odour concerns, and the upgrade will help manage odour issues while improving the reliability and environmental performance of wastewater services in the Lobethal area.

South Australian Minister for Water and the River Murray Minister, Ian Hunter, said the State Government was committed to consulting with local communities and listening to community feedback.

“This is why SA Water has invested $3 million into addressing Lobethal residents’ concerns about network capacity, potential area growth, and odour issues,” Mr Munter said.

“This upgrade is part of SA Water’s commitment to meeting community expectations by effectively managing odour, noise and environmental requirements for the state’s wastewater infrastructure.

“This is a great example of the State Government working with the community and acting on their needs and concerns.”
