Finding reliable water community resources often means searching across multiple platforms, with valuable information difficult to access and use. Indigo by AWA changes that, bringing content together in one place.
The Australian Water Association (AWA) has launched Indigo, a digital library that makes it easier to find and use trusted content from across AWA events and publications, including technical papers, conference materials, journals, podcasts and more.
Indigo makes existing knowledge more visible, accessible and usable. By starting in one place, members can spend less time searching and more time applying what they find.
AWA chief executive officer Corinne Cheeseman said Indigo responds to a long-standing need across the sector for a clearer, more reliable way to access information.
“Indigo gives our members a trusted place to start. It brings together content from across AWA into one platform, making it easier to find relevant information and use it with confidence,” she said.
“There is a depth of knowledge across our sector. Indigo makes that knowledge more visible and easier to access, helping people understand issues more quickly and apply insights in their work.”
The platform includes content from major AWA events, both recent and past, such as Ozwater, Voices from the Bush and Connected by Water, along with articles from the Water e-Journal and Current magazine.
It also helps members discover useful content they may not have known existed, expanding awareness and understanding across the water community.
From information to insight
Indigo is designed to support practical, day-to-day use. It helps water professionals find relevant information quickly and apply it with confidence, whether they are working in operations, planning or decision-making roles.
The platform reflects how professionals engage with knowledge today, offering a mix of formats so users can read, watch or listen depending on what they need.
Indigo has also been shaped by direct input from the water community. AWA engaged members through virtual focus groups and in-person consultation to inform how the platform works, including how content is organised and accessed.
This input has helped create a more intuitive experience, making it easier to navigate a large and diverse body of content and find what matters faster.
Full access to Indigo is available to AWA members, with a limited selection of content available more broadly.
A living knowledge platform
As Indigo grows, it will expand its content and continue to bring together knowledge from across the sector. Over time, it has the potential to play a broader role in strengthening how information is shared, understood and applied.
“Indigo is already a useful member benefit, and it will continue to grow over time,” Cheeseman said.
“It creates a stronger connection between the knowledge we generate as a community and how that knowledge is used in practice. As it evolves, it will support a more connected and informed water community.”
In a sector where knowledge is critical but often fragmented, Indigo provides a practical step towards making that knowledge easier to access, connect and use.
