Caval Ridge coal mine plant contract awarded

Monadelphous has been awarded a contract to construct the coal handling plant, including the provision of civil, structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical and instrumentation works for the on the Caval Ridge Mine Project, south-east of Moranbah in Queensland.
Work will commence immediately and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of the 2013 calendar year.
North of the existing Peak Downs Mine, the Caval Ridge Project is being developed by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA), it covers 6,706 hectares and will produce 5.5 million tonnes per annum (8 million tonnes per annum including the associated expansion of Peak Downs Mine) of high quality, hard coking coal. First coal is expected in 2014.
