Weir Minerals Australia has officially opened a brand new Aspir™ centrifuge manufacturing and service facility in Brendale, Queensland. Strategically located between the key coal regions of Queensland and New South Wales, the Brendale facility is ideally situated to service the coal industry.

The manufacturing facility was officially opened by Keith Cochrane, Chief Executive of The Weir Group PLC, Rob Brown, Regional Managing Director APAC, Mike Trench, Product Development Manager and Wayne Trench, Business Unit Manager on Monday 25th November.

The Weir Group PLC Chief Executive Keith Cochrane, on the new facility in Brendale:

“The heart of the business will remain here in Australia, we have just invested in a new facility in Queensland which becomes the platform for the product line and the development of those products as we seek to globalise them.

“Obviously this is the right place for the Aspir products from which to develop that global footprint, to provide support for other parts of the world as they seek to take these products into new markets.”

The Aspir™ brand is well known in the coal processing industry for products that utilise the latest technology available in coal preparation and dewatering applications. The Aspir™ coarse and fine coal centrifuges combine high-quality components with one of the most advanced drive mechanisms in the industry to maximise service life with minimal maintenance costs.

As the home of Aspir™ centrifuges, the Brendale facility will become the centrifuge and wedge wire basket Design Centre of Origin, where centrifugal innovation for local and global markets will be centre of attention.

In addition to manufacturing and refurbishing the centrifuges, the new facility will construct wedge wire screens, baskets and flat panels, as well as sieve bends and underpans,

The Brendale facility is also home to the WearStop™ abrasion resistant ceramic-based wear compound. By combining ceramic beads that have a tungsten carbide-like hardness into a highly adhesive epoxy resin, WearStop™ compounds offer a superior solution to improving the wear life of bulk handling and mineral processing equipment.

The manufacturing and service centre will offer centrifuge spare parts as well as on-site inspections, and servicing along with high quality centrifuge rebuilds, all based at the Brendale facility.
