A $9.1 million upgrade to Secret Harbour and Port Kennedy wastewater systems in the City of Rockingham in Perth’s south have been completed under budget.
Western Australian Water Minister, Mia Davies, said work included construction of 6.2km of new wastewater pipe along Warnbro Sound Avenue and upgrades at pump stations located on Warnbro Sound Avenue, Swanson Way and Naples Place.
“Population is expected to double in these two suburbs by 2025 and this upgrade will ensure the wastewater system can accommodate this rapidly growing part of the City of Rockingham,” Ms Davies said.
“The Water Corporation worked closely with the community and the City of Rockingham to reduce as much as possible any inconvenience during the construction period.”
The Water Corporation manages more than 16,000km of wastewater pipe across WA, with more than 12,000km in the Perth metropolitan area.
