The first stage of a project set to increase the Nambucca Valley economy by $380 million per year involves the construction of a new sewage pump station.
Council’s construction contractor working on the Valla Urban Growth Area (VUGA) project, AJ Civil Projects, has mobilised to the new pump station site in Nambucca Heads.
Nambucca Valley Council acting general manager David Moloney said this was the final major construction job needed to unlock stage one of the VUGA project.
“Civil construction works on the western side of the Pacific Motorway are completed and now we start the last, big job on the eastern side of the highway,” he said.
“About 90 per cent of the water and sewer pipelines have been installed on the eastern side, with the final pipes expected to be placed by about September or October this year.
“The sewer trunk main has been installed under Red Ash Road and the highway and it will be gravity fed to the new sewage pump station, located near the old Boggy Creek Road adjacent to Giinagay Way.”
Moloney said the sewage pump station and adjacent bulk water filling station are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
AJ Civil Projects will be completing the following activities for the first few weeks from about Monday July 6:
- Site set-up and installation of environmental controls
- Remove tree stumps
- Start earthworks for the cul-de-sac formation, which is the turning-circle and parking area for bulk water carriers
- Import and place road base material on the cul-de-sac area.
