Pump Industry Capability Guide

Product : Actuators

Actuators are used to convert mechanical, fluid, thermal or electrical energy to mechanical motion. One of their key roles in pumping systems is to operate valves, making them important for system safety and process control. Some actuators can only fully open or fully close a valve, while others may allow intermediate positioning. Actuators can either be operated manually, or be powered remotely, generally via gas pressure, hydraulic pressure or electricity. Remotely operated actuators are often vital for automated process control and are used in control loops to regulate a system. As a result, they are used extensively throughout many industries, including in water and wastewater, oil and gas, power generation, mineral processing, food and beverage, and various manufacturing processes.
