Pump Industry Capability Guide

Product : Slurry pumps

Slurry pumps are used to transport a mixture of liquid and solid particles, otherwise known as ‘slurry’. They are generally specialised centrifugal, lobe or peristaltic pumps. Slurry pumps are used in a variety of industries such as the mining and minerals, oil and gas, sewage, agriculture and manufacturing industries. In the Australian mining industry, slurry pumps are widely used to transport mineral slurries to processing plants for wet separation. They are also commonly used to manufacture and transport fertilisers in the Australian agricultural industries. Many slurry pumps are required to operate 24 hours a day and must handle highly abrasive fluid mixtures, requiring them to be of extremely robust construction. They are invariably single-stage pumps to prevent the excessive wear that would occur in the passages between stages of a multistage pump.
