Carrington Pump House in Newcastle has been cited as a local treasure.

Built in 1877, when Newcastle was Australia’s leading coal export port, the hydraulic powerstation helped enable the ongoing expansion of the coal business.

The pump house was last used to power the steam cranes in the 1960s.
