Seqwater is advancing a suite of projects across its network, including a new underground bulk water pipeline to unlock more water transfer between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
Planning on the pipeline, which will connect North Pine to Morayfield, continues, with a detailed business case (DBC) being developed to further define the project scope, benefits and delivery approach. This is set for completion in early 2027.
The design process continues in parallel, with the preliminary design approaching completion. This stage will help inform alignment and future planning and approvals.
Ongoing engagement with approval authorities, local councils, First Nations representatives, utility providers and other key stakeholders continues to ensure all requirements are considered as the project develops.
Seqwater is also progressing planning for dam improvements and future water security in the northern region. This includes the North Pine dam improvement project, where a DBC is underway and several key milestones achieved for the early staged strengthening works.
Foundation activities such as coring and headblock installation to prepare the dam wall have been completed, while drilling is well underway, with fabrication and installation of anchors progressing well.
North Pine construction is set for completion by the end of 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.
Planning on the Dayboro water supply scheme upgrade continues, with a preliminary business case currently underway and expected to be completed in 2026. The project scope and design is being refined, while potential pipeline routes are assessed, technical investigations are carried out.
