Bonfiglioli’s innovative drive solutions optimise uptime and reliability and empower Terex Minerals Processing Systems’ apron feeders to excel in demanding global mining and quarry operations.

The apron feeder is essential to modern mining operations, ensuring the optimal flow of material and supporting maximum uptime. Terex Minerals Processing Systems (a global manufacturer of materials processing equipment) has over 55 years of experience designing and installing high-performance apron feeders. Their Australian team supplies these solutions for a wide range of operations, including small quarries, recycling plants, large quarry sites, and major mining operations globally.

The company is the supplier of the Jaques D Series, a heavy-duty apron feeder that features crawler tractor track rollers and chains, a fabricated support frame, and high-strength steel shafts. This makes it one of the most durable, cost-effective, and efficient apron feeders on the market.

The standout features of the Jaques D Series include its variable speed operation, 14,500 mtph capacity, high impact and wear resistance, and long-wearing parts. The D Series is designed to optimise operations, reduce truck waiting times, and require minimal maintenance. It’s available in a variety of models and is easily customised to application requirements.

“Our equipment is designed to meet the unique demands of each application, providing reliable and tailored solutions backed by our global presence and dedicated support,” explains Peter Tas, Terex Minerals Processing Systems Australia Quality Manager/Product Manager – Apron Feeders.

For many years, Terex has used Bonfiglioli drives to power their apron feeders, favouring the design and exceptional power density of these solutions, as well as Bonfiglioli’s expertise in planetary systems. “Their proven performance, reliability and ability to deliver tailored drive solutions make them one of our trusted partners in meeting our equipment demands,” adds Mr Tas.

Bonfiglioli solutions tick the boxes for Terex

“Apron feeders, in general, require high torque and very low speed,” said Kris Jaryn, Bonfiglioli National Product Manager: Heavy Duty Products.

He went on to explain that Bonfiglioli supplies Terex with heavy-duty right-angle planetary gear units or combination units comprising:

  • The 3/H Series delivers extremely high transmissible torque and thermal rating.
  • The 3/A Series compact and efficient units with a wide torque and ratio range.
  • The 300 R Series offers multiple options in ratio combination.

“Bonfiglioli drives are extremely versatile, as they’re easy to combine or customise to provide the customer with a solution that delivers the speed and torque they can’t always get from using another standalone product,” commented Mr Jaryn. “They’re also cost-effective, as they have low maintenance requirements”.

In 2024 alone, Bonfiglioli supplied numerous drives to Terex, supporting their operations across Australia and the global market.

A partnership built on a shared commitment to quality and performance

Terex’s partnership with Bonfiglioli has been built over several decades with the shared goal of providing reliable and innovative drive solutions to customers.

“This long-standing collaboration reflects a shared commitment to quality, performance and meeting the evolving needs of our industry,” said Mr Tas. “We value the team’s prompt responsiveness and the product flexibility required to meet the unique demands of our applications and industry. Bonfiglioli’s diverse range of models and gearbox configurations, coupled with flexible ratio options, enable us to deliver tailored solutions that meet the specific needs of our clients.”
