In Australia’s mining industry, the true test of performance isn’t how equipment runs under ideal conditions – it’s how it endures when they’re not.

Operators face frequent stop/starts, while slurry, vibration, and relentless schedules push components to the limit. For mechanical seals, failure is costly: pumps stop, production stalls, and downtime costs start to climb.

“Behind every Flexaseal product is a simple promise: reliability through innovation,” the company says.

Sealing out the challenges

Few components face harsher conditions than a slurry pump seal. Exposure to abrasive particles and high solids makes traditional flush-dependent seal systems difficult and expensive to maintain.

Enter Flexaseal’s heavy-duty Flushless Slurry Pump Seal (RKCS).

Designed for demanding slurry duties, the RKCS operates flush-free, eliminating the need for constant water injection. This innovation saves millions of litres of water at scale while reducing maintenance intervals and environmental impact.

With tungsten carbide or silicon carbide sealing faces, heavy-duty hardware, and patented stationary seal face technology, the RKCS stands up to the high pressures, misalignment, and vibration that slurry pumps face daily.

“Mining operators have been looking for a robust, low-maintenance seal that doesn’t rely on a water flush,” the company says. “The RKCS was designed precisely for that.”

Diamonds are a seal’s best friend

Flexaseal’s FlexICE Diamond Face Technology is designed for extreme conditions where traditional seal faces fail due to heat, friction, or dry running. Introducing a next-generation diamond-bond coating that transforms seal performance, FlexICE can:

  • Survive dry running and start/stop operation
  • Handle low-lubricity fluids
  • Reduce heat generation
  • Extend seal life

“By combining diamond hardness with superior thermal conductivity, we’ve created a sealing surface that can handle the heat – literally,” Flexaseal says.

For mine sites handling variable flows, abrasive slurries, or occasional dry conditions, FlexICE is a breakthrough technology, reducing maintenance frequency and extending uptime.

Engineered in the US, supported locally

Flexaseal products are designed and manufactured in the US, but local expertise through Flexaseal Australasia ensures mining operators across the country receive fast, knowledgeable support, seal repair services, and the best lead times in the industry.

From tailings and concentrate pumping to autoclaves and pressure oxidation circuits, Flexaseal’s product line covers the full spectrum of sealing challenges found across Australian mine sites.

Behind every Flexaseal product is a simple promise: reliability through innovation. By combining rugged design with cutting-edge technologies like the RKCS and FlexICE Diamond Face, Flexaseal Australasia helps mining operators reduce downtime, save water, and keep production flowing.
