East Gippsland Water is installing new underground storage tanks at a sewer pump station in Lakes Entrance in eastern Victoria to improve its storage capacity and reliability.

The pump station upgrade at Ferndale Parade will improve the efficiency and reliability of local sewerage services, particularly in the event of severe wet weather or a prolonged power outage.

On-site work is due to get underway in early February 2017 and will take about three months to complete.

Additional work will be carried out later in 2017 to install a permanent generator at the site, to manage the risk of any prolonged power outage affecting the sewer network.

The project is part of a $12 million program of investment in capital projects that the corporation is committed to for the current financial year across East Gippsland Water’s towns.
