Bayside City Council’s $2.95 million stormwater harvesting project at Brighton Golf Course in Melbourne is in its final phase with cleaning up and systems testing underway.
Once complete, the project will see around 86 megalitres of water diverted from the Melbourne Water stormwater system each year that will be naturally treated and used to water both the Brighton Golf Course and areas of Dendy Park.
Construction had been scheduled to be completed at the end of December 2017, however wet weather meant that construction of the Melbourne Water drain diversion structure and pump installations components could not be completed.
Further rains in January 2018 caused additional delays.
Work completed over the last two months includes:
- Works on both pump stations now complete
- Construction of the Melbourne Water diversion
- Systems testing of the new equipment is underway
- An audit and repairs to the completed irrigation system is in progress
The project is expected to be completed by March 2018.
