Coliban Water is carrying out significant water and wastewater infrastructure works in central and north Victoria, with 76 water pump stations and 188 sewer pump stations in line for maintenance.
The works come as part of the utility’s ‘Coliban for the Future’ vision, encompassing the Big Water Build and a new target operating model (TOM).
Coliban Water is outsourcing operations and maintenance (O&M) of certain assets, including O&M services for water and sewer networks across the region. This includes services for 16 water treatment plants, 2400km of water mains and 2100km of sewer mains to accompany the 264 water and sewer pump stations.
The program will see maintenance of about 82,500 water connections and 75,000 sewerage connections undertaken by Coliban Water in the coming years.
Coliban Water has put out an advanced tender notice for the program, with an industry briefing for upcoming procurement to take place on December 9 in Bendigo. This briefing will detail the expression of interest (EOI) process which is set to close in February 2026.
From March/April 2026, shortlisted organisations will be invited to participate in a request for tender (RFT) process, with a preferred (O&M) tenderer to be selected from there.
Coliban Water announced in late October that it was investing $40 million across 10 years to revitalise water and wastewater infrastructure across central and north Victoria.
Initial projects include the building of a new pump station, pipeworks and water treatment technologies in Cohuna, with works kicking off in early 2026.
The utility has implemented a long-term partnership approach for its Big Water Build, working with delivery partners over several years rather than hiring different contractors for each job.
