The Board of Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI) has appointed a new Chair, following the resignation of Frank Sergi.

Nayce Dalton has been appointed to the position, with the outgoing Chair officially handing over the reins at the start of March 2019. Mr Dalton is the owner of a successful mixed farming business in Binya and has served in the role of Deputy Chair for the past 3.5 years.

“Nayce has a solid understanding of local stakeholder issues and brings considerable expertise to the Chair’s role,” Mr Sergi said.

“It is this expertise, drive and commitment that will ensure we can continue to adapt to the new environment in which the water industry is operating.”

Mr Sergi has served on the MI Board for the past six years and was Chair for the past 3.5 years. He will continue on the MI Board until his term expires at the AGM in November 2019.

“I felt the time was right to step down as Chair and wind down my responsibilities on the Board,” Mr Sergi said.

“I would like to thank Nayce, and my fellow Directors, for their dedication to the company and support throughout my time as Chair.

“MI is in great hands and I look forward to working with Nayce over the next few months to make sure his transition into the role of Chair is a smooth one.”

Mr Sergi was Chair throughout the most significant period of change in MI’s history, with nearly $500 million worth of modernisation works undertaken, and a comprehensive review of the company’s pricing. Mr Dalton paid tribute to the role Mr Sergi played throughout this time.

“It has certainly been a challenging period, and Frank has done a fantastic job to guide the company through it,” Mr Dalton said.

“His hard work will hold us in good stead for both the short and long term.”
