Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions (WMFTS) will unveil its new Bredel Heavy Duty pump, specifically for the mining and construction sectors, at bauma 2025 (April 7 – 13).
Bredel Hose Pumps, part of WMFTS, has engineered the new Heavy-Duty pump with increased safety features and improved durability, which will be shown for the first time at Bauma 2025.
The Heavy-Duty pump is a solution for handling difficult solids in the mining and construction industries. It can transfer abrasive, high-solid-content slurries, thick sludge, and corrosive fluids with flow rates up to 108 000 L/h and pressures up to 16 bar.
The Heavy-Duty pump’s frame enables safer pump transportation using a forklift truck, and bearings provide an extended lifetime when pumping high-solid content slurries. Safety features also include a window guard that offers extra protection, a flange bracket that reduces the risk of lubricant leakage and lowers maintenance, and a C4H paint coating that provides higher resistance to harsh environments.
Bredel hose pumps and Qdos chemical metering pumps from WMFTS are low-maintenance and have benefits such as minimal impact on the local environment, reduced water consumption, and lower energy use. These long-lasting peristaltic pumps excel at applications such as transferring thickener underflow and accurately dosing reagents, leading to a more efficient mining process.
“Bredel, Qdos, and Watson-Marlow pumps are empowering mining companies worldwide to achieve their production and sustainability goals,” Wilfried Staijen, Global Business Development Manager – Mining at WMFTS, said. “Whether handling polymers, flocculants, reagents, abrasive lime slurries, or corrosive chemicals, pumps and hoses from Watson-Marlow can accurately control the flow with minimal downtime for maintenance and very low-cost parts inventory. Importantly, pumps such as Bredel or Qdos can be relied upon in remote locations without the need for freshwater sources or ancillary equipment.
“Unlike conventional pumps, our peristaltic pumps use a hose or tube as the primary wear part, which minimises maintenance and downtime due to internal wear. This design ensures reliable performance, which is crucial in harsh mining environments where equipment durability is essential. Bredel hose pumps have a robust construction so they can handle high solids content and strong acids without damage or contamination, which makes them ideal solutions for thickener underflow, tailings transfer, concentrate filter feed, and chemical metering.”
