A series of key projects are on the way for Drouin in regional Victoria, as Gippsland Water is delivering new infrastructure to meet the growing demand for services driven by population growth.

“We will deliver three major projects throughout 2017 to ensure that the town’s water and sewerage facilities can match the rate of Drouin’s urban expansion,” said Paul Clark, General Manager Customer Service and Communications at Gippsland Water.

“Water and sewerage services are among the most critical of amenities for future growth and we take great pride the role we play supporting the development of our local communities.

“Our future planning includes an estimated $30 million upgrade of the Drouin Wastewater Treatment Plant to meet the rapid increase in demand from Drouin and surrounding areas. Gippsland Water will work with nearby residents and the community during the planning and construction of the project.”

Gippsland Water’s overall investment in the town’s infrastructure will see a new 1.2km sewer main installed near Bellbird Park to add capacity to the sewer network, as well as a project to mitigate the risk of low water pressure to resident in the south-east section of town.

In addition, the re-lining of Gippsland Water’s treated water basin will ensure water quality remains high into the future.

Gippsland Water has plans in place to work with residents living close to the works, to accommodate the needs of the community while works are being undertaken throughout 2017.

“Engaging with communities is a large focus of ours moving forward, and we will continue to work alongside our customers to deliver better services that reflect their needs,” Mr Clark said.

“These vital projects support local jobs during development and construction.”
