SA Water is undertaking works to upgrade the wastewater network in the South Australian town of Gawler West as part of efforts to improve odour management for local customers.
The upgrades will include the installation of new gravity mains, pumping mains, inspection holes and a new ventilation control unit near the intersection of Ryde St, Dean St, Gosford St, Barnet Rd and Overway Bridge Rd.
The works will commence on 28 October 2019 and is expected to take approximately ten working weeks to complete.
SA Water’s Acting General Manager of Asset Operations and Delivery, Peter Seltsikas, said the team has investigated the best available options to improve odour management in the area.
“We identified that by reconfiguring part of the area’s wastewater network and installing a new odour vent, we could improve the overall performance of the area’s sewer network for years to come,” Mr Seltsikas said.
“With similar upgrades completed at other sites across South Australia, we know this is a highly-effective method of controlling odour for the benefit of our customers.
“This is an important upgrade for the Gawler West area, and we thank the local community for their patience while crews complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.”
