Next Cycle and Maxa are delivering R290 heat pump solutions for residential, commercial and industrial heating and cooling needs.
For an industry obsessed with temperature, HVAC in Australia has been remarkably lukewarm about change. While Europe embraced next-gen heat pumps and ultra-low-GWP refrigerants years ago, Australian systems have lagged behind. Now, Next Cycle is turning up the pressure, launching a comprehensive R290 inverter heat pump range that offers smart, sustainable heating, cooling, and water solutions for every corner of the market.
Breaking inertia in HVAC + Water
Next Cycle has officially launched its operations in Australia, bringing with it the largest R290 inverter heat pump range available locally. The launch was made possible through a strategic partnership with Italian HVAC innovator Maxa, a brand that has been at the forefront of European heat pump development.
Next Cycle general manager Mathew Harrison said the launch represents more than a new product offering. He said it marks a clear break from two decades of stagnation in Australia’s approach to sustainable HVAC and water systems.
Harrison said Next Cycle is delivering more than just technology.
“We’re proud to be bringing Europe’s leading range of sustainable heating, cooling, hot water and chilled water solutions to Australia, coupled with our market-leading warranties and service levels,” Harrison said.
Performance meets flexibility
At the core of the Next Cycle launch is the Maxa i-290 range, with 19 models from 6.2kW to 170kW and a COP as high as 4.94. Designed for versatility, these systems deliver chilled water down to -8°C and hot water up to 78°C. The range spans domestic to industrial use, providing tailored scalability with refrigerants including R290, R32 and R410A.
Unlike many suppliers, Next Cycle offers full inverter heat pump solutions to match project specifications across any scale. Harrison said this flexibility allows engineers and installers to meet increasingly complex energy-efficiency requirements without compromise.
Future-ready and certified
Sustainability sits at the core of the Maxa product offering. The i-290 and HWA2 systems use refrigerants with a Global Warming Potential of just 3, and a zero Ozone Depletion Potential. Both are Eurovent certified and tested for Australian conditions by Vipac Engineers and Scientists.
Harrison said the company’s investment in warranties and installer training reflects its long-term focus. Next Cycle offers a 7-year warranty and care program for its R290 domestic heat pumps, and supports the installer community through Maxa Green Training programs.
Maxa CEO Simone Ferroli said the partnership was grounded in shared values.
“The Next Cycle team’s deep HVAC + Water expertise and their commitment to sustainability make them an ideal partner for Maxa. Together, we’re not just launching products. We’re helping shape the future of climate control in Australia.”
