Extreme loads, abrasive conditions, and misalignment risks make mining a punishing environment for bearings. NTN’s high-performance tapered roller and spherical bearings are engineered to thrive where others fail.

Mining operations push rotating equipment to its limits. From haul trucks and conveyors, to crushers and vibrating screens, heavy-duty components must handle massive loads, frequent shock events, and constant exposure to dust, dirt and moisture. That’s where NTN’s bearing technology comes into its own – delivering performance, reliability, and longevity in some of Australia’s toughest applications.

One standout is NTN’s range of sealed spherical roller bearings, used extensively in mining conveyors and vibrating equipment. With their robust sealing system, these bearings resist contamination from water and airborne particles – one of the leading causes of premature failure in harsh environments. The result is extended service life and reduced maintenance frequency, even under high shock loads and misalignment.

The Ultage series, NTN’s premium offering in spherical bearings, builds further on this resilience. These bearings are capable of handling dynamic loads up to 65 per cent higher than conventional designs, with up to five times the service life. Their design features maximise roller size and count, providing superior load distribution and fatigue resistance – a crucial advantage in mobile and fixed mining equipment exposed to constant mechanical stress.

In parallel, NTN tapered roller bearings are widely used in mobile mining assets such as haul truck axles and wheel ends, where axial and radial loads must be managed simultaneously. Made from carburised steel, these bearings have a hardened outer shell and a ductile core that absorbs impact – improving wear resistance and performance under severe loading.
