As part of the organisation’s 50th Anniversary celebration program, the PIA intends to run two seminars on the theme “Latest Developments in Pump Technology”. These seminars will run for four hours in the afternoon and will be held in two locations.

  • 11 November from 1 pm to 5 pm at Engineers Australia Auditorium in North Melbourne.
  • 13 November from 1 pm to 5 pm at Rooty Hill RSL in Rooty Hill near Sydney.

To add an International flavour to these seminars, the PIA has invited Steve Schofield, Director & Chief Executive of BPMA, to act as keynote speaker at both events.

The PIA intends to make the program as interesting and relevant to the latest developments in our industry, both at home and abroad, as possible. It should provide an opportunity for PIA members to showcase the latest technology from their organisations.

An outline for the program is given below, but this is not set in stone, and members are welcome to put forward alternatives.

Possible program outline:

1.00 to 1.15 pm – Introduction – PIA President

1.15 to 2.00 pm – EU pump directives in Europe – Steve Schofield

2.00 to 2.30 pm – Call for papers: Centrifugals

2.30 to 3.00 pm – Call for papers: PD pumps

3.00 to 3.30 pm – Afternoon tea

3.30 to 4.00 pm – Energy auditing accreditation – Steve Schofield

4.00 to 4.30 pm – Call for papers: Drives/Controls

4.30 to 5.00 pm – Call for papers: Case study

A call for papers has been issued to all PIA Members and Associate Members to provide for a stimulating program. The closing date for submissions will be 29 August 2014.

As usual, the seminar will be open to PIA members, consulting engineers and industry users of pumping equipment. Promotion of the events will begin in September and we seek your support to make this program successful.
