Pump testing on Lake Menindee has now been completed as part of a series of projects from WaterNSW aimed at securing emergency town water supply for Broken Hill, Menindee and Sunset Strip (NSW).
The final calibration of expected yield (phase one modelling) has been completed and reporting is currently being finalised.
Pump testing on the Menindee bore has also been completed, with a view to providing water security for Essential Water customers in the township. Water quality and daily yield (approximately 1ML/day) results are favourable and a detailed design is underway.
Once completed, groundwater from this source will be piped to the Menindee treatment plant for treatment to Australian Drinking water Guidelines and distributed to customers.
Residents not connected to a town water supply will continue to access water from the pre-existing standpipe.
