QLD pumps on agenda with government grants

A number of pump and water treatment projects are among those that will receive grants through Round 2 of the QLD Government’s Royalties for the Regions program.

Royalties for the Regions aims to support resource projects throughout regional QLD by providing local councils with grants to undertake vital infrastructure and improvement works.

Over a four year period, starting in 2012, the program will invest $495 million in new and improved community infrastructure, roads and floodplain security projects that benefit those who live, work and invest in QLD resource regions. In future years there will be an ongoing commitment of $200 million each year.

Among the projects that received grants this round are:

 

Banana Shire Council

  • Banana Reservoir and Town Pump – $1,700,000
  • Baralaba Water Treatment and Water Supply Infrastructure Upgrade – $4,500,000

Mackay Regional Council

  • Marian Water Treatment Plant and Raw Water Intake System – $6,445,400

Maranoa Regional Council

  • Roma Sewage Treatment Plant Sludge Drying Beds – $400,000

Rockhampton Regional Council

  • Gracemere Water Supply Augmentation – $1,000,000

South Burnett Regional Council

  • Kingaroy Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade $10,000,000

Tablelands Regional Council

  • Chillagoe Water Supply Project – $295,000

Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council

  • Woorabinda Treatment Plant Upgrade – Mimosa Creek Spear – $250,000
