A Rio Tinto and Track’em panel discussion is among the highlights of an impressive speaker line-up at the upcoming WA Mining Conference and Exhibition (WA Mining).

Taking place at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 9–10 October, WA’s leading technology event will showcase the state’s critical role in the resource industry’s digital evolution.

In addition to the Rio Tinto panel, the conference’s comprehensive list of speakers includes WA Minister for Mines and Petroleum David Michael, as well as representatives from MEC Mining, the Minerals Council of Australia, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA, and more.

Presentations will cover the breadth of the resources sector, examining areas such as decarbonisation, tech-driven mining operations, and developing a circular economy for critical minerals, to name a few.

The Rio Tinto panel with look at the issue of empowering operational excellence, which panel moderator Chris Brown, Rio Tinto’s manager of asset management supply chain, described as “having the right information to the right people at the right time”.

“It’s about knowing where parts are, understanding where they should be, and having people in the field be able to move those parts where they needed the first time, every time,” he said.

Brown believes events like WA Mining are a vital opportunity for people from all areas of the Western Australian resources sector to gather and share experiences and showcase strong connections.

“Presenting at the conference gives us the chance to highlight a great partnership that we’ve had with a local IT vendor who’s been able to work with us to develop an integrated solution and engage with others in the industry,” Brown said.

This sense of connection is a sentiment echoed by Rio Tinto maintenance supply chain business improvement Paul Miles, who will join Brown during the panel discussion.

“The mining industry is the biggest small business – everybody pretty much knows everybody across the industry, and everybody knows somebody coming up with solutions,” Miles said.

“The part we want to showcase is that there are people within the industry – and many others – that are visionaries and entrepreneurs who will start businesses and have business solutions that will solve issues in the industry.”

Joining Rio Tinto for the panel discussion at WA Mining is Track’em. Originally designed to reduce waste in the resources industry, Track’em is a cloud-based tracking platform that tracks during construction and operation.

The highly-targeted conference will run alongside a free-to-attend exhibition and seminar series, and will offer expert insight from government personnel, mining organisations and key industry decision-makers.

Don’t miss the opportunity to attend WA’s premier event connecting businesses, buyers and sellers across the mining industry. Register now to secure a 20 per cent discount on conference tickets. But hurry, early-bird registration closes 31 August.

Capacity is limited and tickets are expected to sell out, so don’t wait to secure your attendance. Visit www.waminingexpo.com.au/attend/ for more information and to register.
