Coliban Water has taken back Redline Mining and Infrastructure’s delivery of the remaining works of Harcourt Rural Modernisation Project (VIC). The corporation has now stepped in and taken the work out of the hands of its contractor.
Coliban Water will continue to work through contractual matters with Redline, but the corporation’s focus is getting the project finished. These contractual matters will not impact project progress or what customers will pay for their service when the pipeline is complete.
A new plan to complete pipeline and pump station works will be implemented by Coliban Water over coming weeks to get the project back on course for the corporation’s rural customers in the Harcourt area. Information about the new plan will be released before construction recommences.
Still to be constructed is approximately 1.3 kilometres of the 19 kilometre backbone pipeline and approximately 18.6 kilometres of the 44 kilometres of network pipeline. Pumping stations at Faraday and Barkers Creek Reservoir are also incomplete.
A water storage tank and modifications to inlet works at Barkers Creek Reservoir were completed last year.
Coliban Water has said that whilst pipelines are partially built, customers will be supplied by the existing rural channel system for the 2015/16 rural supply season starting in October.
A new completion date is yet to be determined but project completion is expected to be prior to the 2016/17 rural season.
Harcourt rural customers and landowners will continue to be updated by direct mail and can continue to access the latest information on the Harcourt Rural Modernisation project page on the Coliban Water website.
