Boerger has unveiled the OrbitGrinder, a cutting-basket macerator engineered to deliver consistent solids reduction while safeguarding pumps and downstream process equipment in wastewater and sludge handling applications.

At the core of the OrbitGrinder is a distinctive star-shaped blade arrangement, which maintains even circumferential speed at every cutting point. Unlike conventional macerators with round perforated disks, this design ensures homogenous maceration of solids and reliable protection against blockages.

The macerator features pivoted cutting blades that automatically adjust to variations in solids content, maintaining a steady cutting speed and producing uniform particle sizes that are easier for pumps and downstream systems to handle. An integrated baffle plate then distributes the pump’s suction force evenly across the cutting surface.

The star-shaped geometry also reduces wear and extends service life, addressing a common challenge with conventional macerators where outer edges of cutting plates wear unevenly. This makes the OrbitGrinder ideal for demanding wastewater, sludge, and anaerobic digestion applications where uptime and reliability are critical.

Designed for flexible integration and easy maintenance, the OrbitGrinder allows inlet and outlet connections to be positioned at various angles. Its Maintenance-In-Place (MIP) design and gas-strut-assisted quick-release cover enable fast access to cutting components, while impurities are efficiently collected for removal.

Reflecting Boerger’s reputation for robust, operator-friendly engineering, the OrbitGrinder combines intelligent blade geometry, uniform cutting performance, and service-focused design to provide a reliable maceration solution that protects critical assets and supports stable plant operation.
