Trafalgar Reserve sewer connection complete

Sewer main connection works in Trafalgar (VIC) have been completed.

The $265,000 project which connected the Trafalgar Recreation Reserve to the sewer main, was funded by the Baw Baw Shire Council’s 2014-2016 capital works program.

Six facilities at the reserve are now connected to the sewer main that runs in the neighbouring property and the five existing septic tanks at the reserve have been decommissioned.

Maintenance to reinstate areas of the ground disturbed by the works will take place soon.

Mayor of Baw Baw Shire, Councillor, Joe Gauci, said he was thankful for the patience of the Trafalgar Recreation Reserve Committee of Management.

“This project was a major undertaking and required cooperation from each of the user groups to ensure the works had a minimal impact on their activities.

“Connecting the reserve to the sewer main is the most sustainable option when compared to replacing the septic tanks. It also removes the public health and safety risks associated with septic systems,” Mr Gauci said.
