In a company-first, Unitywater is managing its full fleet of wastewater assets.

Following a year-long handover process of treatment plants at Noosa and Redcliffe, Unitywater is now managing all 17 plants across its service region.

Unitywater Executive Manager Customer Delivery, Rhett Duncan, said it’s a testament to the company’s strong customer focus.

“Insourcing all our wastewater management is really important for our customers in terms of providing safe, reliable wastewater treatment and finding efficiencies to keep bills affordable,” he said.

“Taking back two plants may sound easy but it has been a significant process over the last 12 months to fully understand the processes and complexities of how Noosa and Redcliffe operate.

“Our project team has done an incredible job bringing our contractors and Unitywater together to ensure a smooth handover and that our operators can confidently operate these important assets. These are our core services and we have the right people to operate and maintain our networks.

“A huge thanks goes to our contractors who have been running the plants on our behalf – TRILITY, who’ve managed Redcliffe for eight years and Suez, our Noosa operator for the last 25 years.”

Unitywater Treatment Plant Manager, King Intrapaiboon, said the whole handback process was well planned to ensure operators and onsite teams were the main focus.

“We have commitments to our customers to ensure seamless delivery of our wastewater services, but we also committed to our own people,” he said.

“We’ve supported local Unitywater people to get upskilled and prepared to take on the challenge of running all our treatment plants in-house from day one.

“I’ve been really impressed with their commitment and I’m excited to see what the future will look like.”
