The Water Corporation is set to begin work on a $10million wastewater upgrade in Western Australia, which includes pump station upgrades.

As well as the pump stations, the upgrades in Secret Harbour and Port Kennedy will also include the construction of a 6.2km wastewater pipeline along Warnbro Sound Avenue.

WA Water Minister, Mia Davies, said the upgrade was to cater for growth in the area.

“The population of Secret Harbour and Port Kennedy is expected to double by 2025 and these upgrades will ensure the wastewater system can accommodate development in the area,” Ms Davies said.

The Water Corporation will upgrade wastewater pump stations on Warnbro Sound Avenue, Samson Way and Naples Place.

Extra minor infrastructure will be built on the corner of Warnbro Sound Avenue and Bakewell Drive, Port Kennedy to optimise the flow of wastewater through the new system.

The Minister said construction of the new wastewater pipe and the upgrades to the wastewater pump stations were expected to be completed by May 2016.
