Work has begun to construct eleven kilometres of a new wastewater pressure main from Baldivis to East Rockingham, south of Perth.

“This $19 million project will deliver essential wastewater services to the rapidly growing south-west corridor of Perth,” WA Water Minister Mia Davies said.

“It will allow an additional 12,600 connections to the central wastewater system.

“The new wastewater pressure main will deliver wastewater to the East Rockingham Wastewater Treatment Plant that is currently under construction and which will be able to treat 20 million litres of wastewater each day.

“The existing Baldivis wastewater pump station will also be upgraded to cater for future growth.

“The Water Corporation will work closely with the local community and businesses throughout the duration of the project to ensure every effort is made to minimise disruption during the construction of this vital piece of infrastructure.”

Trenchless technology will be used under major roads, including Safety Bay Road and Nairn Drive, to minimise any disruption to traffic.

The Water Corporation will provide regular updates to the local community and businesses, including providing details of traffic management on its website and advertising in local newspapers.

“I thank the community and road users in advance for their patience,” the Minister said.
