Coliban Water is undertaking a project to upgrade and relocate water pumps in Axedale to improve water pressure.

Coliban Water Chief Officer Assets and Operations, Danny McLean, said although the works will focus on Bluestone Rise Estate, benefits will be felt across the entire town.

“We understand Bluestone Rise Estate has experienced low water pressure for some time, particularly during periods of hot weather when there is increased demand on the network,” Mr McLean said.

The project will involve upgrading and relocating the pumps that deliver pressurised water to customers in the Axedale network.

“The design phase of this project is well underway, with the construction phase expected to commence in mid-September, weather pending,” Mr McLean said.

Approximately 250m of new water main will also be constructed along Burns Street in both the road reserve and Coliban Water-owned land.

During the water main construction works – which are expected to take two to three weeks during the month of October 2022 – customers along Burns Street, Drake Street, Millington Street and William Street may notice construction activities, increased noise levels and increased heavy vehicle movement.

“We anticipate there will be no impact to Axedale customers’ water service during the works, but during the commissioning phase customers may notice pressure fluctuations,” Mr McLean said.

Axedale customers are encouraged to follow Coliban Water on Facebook and Twitter for project updates, or visit the Interruptions page on our website.
