An $8.8 million project to improve the water supply for the Dalwallinu community in Wheatbelt region of WA will start in February.
The project will involve updating the town’s water infrastructure by building a new, larger water tank to improve the town’s water supply, and increase Water Corporation’s capacity to store water and provide a more consistent water pressure to around 350 properties in the town.
Works will include the construction of a new concrete water storage tank, two new booster pump stations and 2.2km of underground pipework connecting the new tank to the scheme.
The new tank and a booster pump will be constructed on Water Corporation land in Dalwallinu, opposite Strickland Drive, near Mclevie Way.
The new underground pipeline will be laid along Leahy Street, Strickland Drive, Great Northern Highway and Watheroo Road.
The second booster pump station will be constructed at the Water Corporation’s existing Pithara site, approximately 20km from Dalwallinu.
The overall project is expected to be completed by the end of November 2018.
WA Minister for Water, Dave Kelly, said, “Not only is this a project support local jobs, but it is an essential upgrade to safeguard the Shire of Dalwallinu’s water supply for decades to come. “
