Unitywater has announced plans to upgrade water infrastructure along Panorama Drive in South-East Queensland, to benefit the townships of Nambour and Rosemount.

Unitywater Executive Manager Infrastructure Planning and Capital Delivery, Simon Taylor said Unitywater was committed to delivering a safe and reliable water service to its customers, with the upgrade scheduled to start mid-March.

“This network upgrade will improve the water flows and security of the water supply for current needs and future growth in the Panorama Hill area of Nambour and Rosemount,” Mr Taylor said.

As part of the work Unitywater will construct a new water pump station at the Pringle Hill Reservoirs on the corner of Nambour Connection Road and Panorama Drive; connect a water main road crossing on the corner of Kerada Road and Panorama Drive; upgrade the water main along Panorama Drive; demolish the existing reservoirs and water pump station opposite Koala Park; and demolish the existing water pump station on the corner of Panorama Drive and Pringle Road.

Weather permitting, work is scheduled to start middle of March 2014 and is anticipated to be completed at the end of May 2014.

This upgrade will require temporary shutdowns of the water supply for some properties in this area. All impacted properties will be notified at least 48 hours in advance of any planned shutdown to their water supply.

Mr Taylor thanked the community for their understanding as this important planned work was carried out to ensure certainty and quality of their water supply.

This project is part of the $680 million capital works program Unitywater is rolling out over the next five years to increase water and sewerage network capacity and cater for future population growth in the region.
