The Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) has released its Water Sector Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Commitment, as part of its WSAA Strategy 2030.
The water sector remains committed to growing a diverse and inclusive workplace culture, particularly one reflecting the communities in which it works, lives and supports.
As part of the strategy, the sector will strive to be an employer of choice, where its staff and contractors can be their true selves at work while feeling like they belong. It will also champion equity, diversity and inclusion at a sector level, as well as at an organisational level.
With collaboration continuing to be a key part of the water industry, the WSAA Strategy will support its members and communities to build capacity, measure performance, influence change and embed culture. It also seeks to encourage a sense of pride and inclusiveness across the industry.
As part of the broader WSAA Strategy 2030, the WSAA will continue to invest in the next generation of leaders through its WSAA Young Utility Leader program. Incorporating the voices of young professionals in its work will also support its industry benchmarking and assessment that will look at best practices in areas such as health and safety, people productivity, mental health, and safety maturity.
The WSAA Strategy 2030 will start partnering with other water associations to establish a water sector coalition that seeks to progress equity, diversity and inclusion outcomes.
