WA Water Minister Mia Davies has announced the completion of infill sewerage works in Quinns Rocks. These works now allow a total of 908 residential lots in this area to access the central wastewater system.

Since 2001, around $9.9 million has been invested in infill sewerage projects in Quinns Rocks. The final stage was completed in late March at a cost of $4.1 million and allows the final 270 residential lots to connect to the central wastewater system.

“This is a great social and environmental outcome for the local community of Quinns Rocks because it ends the reliance on septic tanks and leach drains,” Ms Davies said.

“Wastewater from the final remaining lots can now be carried direct through a system of buried pipes and pump stations to a central treatment plant for safe processing and disposal.

“I would like to acknowledge the co-operation of the local community during construction of these important projects in Quinns Rocks.”

The stage was divided into two project areas. The first project was completed in March 2013 and involved lots located within Piper Street, Fraser Road, Mindarie Drive, Graham Road, Driftwood Rise and Hickory Road.

The second project was completed in March 2014 and was located within Javez Drive, Mindarie Drive, Starrs Road, Ilbery Street, Gordon Avenue, Burt Street, McPharlin Avenue, Walton Place, Spiers Road, Parham Road, Rees Drive, Vaughey Road and Cameron Street.

The Minister said the State Government’s Infill Sewerage Program has since 1994 enabled more than 92,000 households in Western Australia, new access to the central wastewater system, reducing leach drain run-off to the environment.
