Barwon Water’s Forrest Water Treatment Plant will soon undergo an $8.75 million upgrade for more affordable and secure water services.

Construction will begin late September 2022 and continue into 2023, it includes the decommissioning of existing infrastructure and the installation of new, high-quality, facilities.

The project will take place within the water treatment plant site on Grant Street.
Barwon Water Managing Director, Tracey Slatter, said the Forrest Water Treatment Plant on Grant Street was being upgraded as it was reaching the end of its operational life.

“The upgrade will ensure the Forrest water treatment plant has the latest technology and capacity to maintain ongoing water quality and security, meet rising demand and maintain customer affordability,” Ms Slatter said.

“Our analysis has shown the best approach to managing the town’s supply from a water quality, cost and security perspective is to undertake the upgrade now.”
