South East Water are undertaking works in Bentleigh, Bentleigh East and McKinnon in south-east Melbourne which will upgrade the capacity of the sewerage network and cater for the needs of the growing community.
The upgraded network will allow more effective management of sewage during flows during extreme wet weather events and protect our environment in the unlikely event of a sewage spill.
The upgrade will involve works in Hodgson Reserve, Halley Park, Allnut Park and Jasper Road.
Works to complete the second part of this project, which were deferred mid 2012 due to extremely wet ground conditions, have recommenced.
During this stage of the project, works include installing Sewer Pump Stations in Hodgson Reserve and in Halley Park. New sewer mains will also be installed along Higgins Road and Bolinda Street to feed into the existing sewerage network.
These works are due to be completed by late 2013 (weather permitting).
