The Queensland Government continues to deliver key water infrastructure, including the Haughton pipeline, to create jobs and support the state’s economy.
Water Minister, Glenn Butcher, said the Queensland Government had $2.6 billion committed to water infrastructure.
“The Palaszczuk Government’s investment is supporting 2,500 jobs and supporting communities like Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Townsville and more,” Mr Butcher said.
The $2.6 billion commitment includes:
- $30 million for Big Rocks Weir
- $183 million for Rookwood Weir
- $600 million for Paradise Dam
- $410 million for both of the stages of the Haughton pipeline from Burdekin Falls Dam to provide water security to Townsville
- $16 million for a detailed business case into raising Burdekin Falls Dam
- $70 million for Building Our Regions Round 6 to assist local governments to improve their water supply and sewerage system
- $19.34 million for the Southern Downs drought resilience package
- $20.9 million to modernise an existing open channel irrigation scheme on the Atherton Tablelands
