The NSW Government has agreed to provide up to $1.7 million towards the North Shore sewerage scheme on the Mid North Coast of NSW.

NSW Minister for Natural Resources, Lands and Water, Kevin Humphries, said the government will allocate funding to Port Macquarie-Hastings Council through the NSW Government’s Country Towns Water Supply and Sewerage Program for the provision of sewerage services for the villages of North Shore, North Shore West, Sandfly Alley, and Corilla Estate.

“I am very pleased to announce the NSW Government will support Port Macquarie-Hastings Council to provide reticulated sewerage systems that will improve health and environmental outcomes for these villages,” Mr Humphries said.

“The North Shore sewerage scheme will achieve significant environmental benefits by reducing the risk of leaks of aging septic tanks and absorption into groundwater, particularly as these areas are adjacent to productive oyster leases on the Hastings River.”

“Tenders for design and construction of the project will now be called. Once Council has assessed the tenders and is ready to start construction, the NSW Government will provide financial assistance to them for this vital project.”

Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams, said the NSW Government is committed to helping local councils and water authorities to deliver reliable, affordable, and sustainable water supplies and sewerage systems to regional communities through the Country Towns Water Supply and Sewerage Program.

“The residents of North Shore, North Shore West, Sandfly Alley, and Corilla Estate have been crying out for this investment for many, many years, and I am very pleased to say that as a result of this commitment by the NSW Government this work will now proceed,” Mrs Williams said.
