Gorman-Rupp customers will notice a change in the oil sight glasses of their new pumps. The oil will appear blue to enable quick identification of oil volumes in pumps.

Please see information below describing the oil, the reasons for the change, and a list of approved brands and product names.

The correct oil is available from Hydro Innovations in five litre containers.

Making the switch

Gorman-Rupp recently switched the oil used in its pumps that require SAE 30 weight non-detergent oil. The new oil is refined more than the previous oil. This causes the oil to have the same appearance as water. Gorman-Rupp has now started to tint the oil blue. This makes the oil more visible.

Gorman-Rupp  also wanted to provide alternatives for customers having difficulty sourcing SAE 30 weight non-detergent oil. The chart below lists multiple approved alternative oil brands and types. You will notice all of the oils have the number 100 after them. This is the ISO weight. ISO 100 weight is the equivalent to SAE 30 weight.
